Marmor State School is a small, friendly, community school situated 40 kilometres south of Rockhampton off the Bruce highway between Rockhampton and Gladstone. Students attending Marmor State School come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds and family structures. We are a band 5 school with 12 students in a multi-grade teaching classroom. We have at least one student in every year level from Prep to year 6. Staff includes a full time teaching principal, an additional class teacher, a music and Students with Disabilities teacher and two teacher aides. We also have a chaplain, BSM and grounds person one day per week and a cleaner every day.
We offer a midgets playgroup every Thursday morning for the younger children in our community. This program is facilitated by a qualified teacher aide in conjunction with the principal. Social Skills lessons are taught every week to help our students develop practical social behaviours. Our community garden is under construction and is facilitated by our school chaplain. When it is up and running community members will be able to come and take what they need and pay with seedlings or other donations.
